Slow & Steady

Watercolor

I often come across tortoises on my daily trail route. This guy made me stop and rest for a bit. I rarely take the time to slow down, and he (or she!) was exactly what I needed. I had the chance to snap a few pictures of him eating, and decided to clear my studio schedule for that day and paint him.
Going into your shell isn’t always a bad thing. I now have an up close and personal reminder to slow down and enjoy the sunshine.
This original painting is a very unique piece of my work , as it combines watercolor on a canvas panel. The alcohol drips and mediums make a very unique effect on the non-traditional watercolor surface.
